Jethro Burns

It was probably Homer & Jethro’s parody version of “Nashville Cats” that made me aware that there was a town by that name, and it had something to do with country music. Apropos of nuthin’ much, the first autograph I ever collected was from the late mandolin master Jethro Burns. I had no idea at the time, he was jes’ somebody famous. As I grew to be a musician, I slowly began to realize he wasn’t even famous for what he was best at. Still, it’s a pretty good lesson about how important a good sense of humor can be. Life can play some funny tricks on a fella, you might miss it, if you don’t pay attention.
